Let Me Tell You About Influenster

Hey, long time no blog!

So today I’ve decided to blog about one of my favorite things, Influenster! If you don’t know what Influenster is, its a service that lets companies send free products to potential customers and in return the customers give feed back to the companies. When you sign up with Influenster it asks you about your interests and products you’ve used before. Then, when a VoxBox comes out that you may be eligible for (gender, interests, age, and previous activity on the Influenster website/app all play a factor in elligibility) you will get an email asking you if you would be interested in receiving a VoxBox. If you say yes Influenster will then ask you questions that have to do with the VoxBox and the products it will contain and if you would be willing to try them out. If you are the type of customer Influenster is looking for then you will likely receive the VoxBox within a few weeks.

So what is a VoxBox?

Influenster sends out a thing called VoxBoxes which are little cute bright packages that are filled with goodies to sample. The VoxBox I got most recently recieved is the Fierce Voxbox which included SheaMoisture Argan Oil & Almond Smooth & Tame Shampoo and Blow Out Creme by Shea Moisture and a cute “How-To-Do a Blowout” sheet, Kandee Johnson for Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Urban Magic, Vaseline 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly by Vaseline, Madam CJ Walker Brassica Seed Oil, and Carefree Active Fresh Panty Liners. This VoxBox was seriously FILLED with useful items!

The way you receive more VoxBoxes is to unlock the badge which goes with each VoxBox on the influenster app or website! Usually this includes writing reviews, taking pictures of the products and posting them on social media and doing a mandatory survey. This is super easy to do and definitely worth doing to receive more VoxBoxes and possibly even better VoxBoxes.

Now to review the products I received!

First, I’ll talk about the Madam CJ Walker Brassica Seed Oil. This stuff smells SO good ya’ll; like I could smell this stuff forever. It’s meant to be used on dry hair to give it shine and make it a little softer and smoother. I thought this product worked pretty well and I enjoyed using it although I don’t think I will personally buy it again.

Next, the SheaMoisture Argan Oil & Almond Smooth & Tame Shampoo and Blow Out Creme by Shea Moisture. I loved this shampoo and thought it worked really well and also smelled good and not chemically. I don’t normally give myself blowouts although I did feel like the Blow Out Creme did help soften and shine my hair. Overall I would definitely buy the shampoo again but would not buy the Blowout Creme.

Kandee Johnson for Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Urban Magic was also a pleasant surprise in my VoxBox. If you know me, you know I LOVE glitter and so naturally I love a glitter nail polish. I liked the shade of this polish as well as the small glitter specks but I wished there would be more glitter in the polish so I could get a thicker coat of the glitter instead of having to put on multiple coats of polish. Overall this product was good but I know that I don’t normally use glittery polish, because I’m opting for a more nude or neutral look so I don’t think I will need to purchase this polish again because I already have one container.

Now for my favorite product, Vaseline 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly by Vaseline! THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCT EVER! There are so many hacks to use vaseline! The size I received was super small which was not only adorable but also perfect to keep in my backpack during school! I love using Vaseline as a super moisturizing Chapstick/lipgloss. A few other vaseline hacks I love are: adding a little onto my lashes when I’m not wearing makeup to school for a shiny and thicker look, putting it on my brows to keep them in place and have them look a little darker when I don’t darken and pencil in my brows, and use as a skin moisturizer literally everywhere!

Lastly, I received Carefree Active Fresh Panty Liners. These liners were fresh and easy to use and kept me feeling good all day long! I would totally recommend these to women who wear liners often although I do not so I don’t know that I will be buying them any time soon.

I totally encourage every to join Influenster because what is better than getting a cute package filled with free goodies every couple of months!?

If you want to join Influenster just follow my referral link http://www.influenster.com/r/1492251

Like I said, all these products were complimentary and all opinions stated are my own!

I hope ya’ll enjoyed this post because there will be more to come!
Talk soon, XXOO

21st Birthday Fun!

This past week was my 21st Birthday! I opted to go for a more laid back day rather than going crazy. The day before my birthday a friend asked me to come to her apartment so that I could help her hang up pictures in her apartment. When I got there she told me she needed me to hang something up in her bathroom; when I walked in my best friend from home was hiding and surprised me! She gave me a present; a super cute makeup bag, mirrored jewelry box, and a coffee mug that says “Happy Holidays Hottie.” Then, the three of us went to get sushi and caught up and chatted. When we got home we played Cards Against Humanity until Lauren left. I went back to my boyfriends apartment where we decided to get a piece of cake to start celebrating and then went to sleep.

I started the big day by waking up and eating breakfast at my sorority house; while I was there the girls sang Happy Birthday to me which honestly made my day. I then went to class from 10:30-12 and went home to get dressed. I decided to wear jeans with a camel color sweater and nude wedges (which I ended up breaking later #ugh). Then I went to Starbucks to get my free Birthday Drink and also to Firehouse Subs and got my free medium Birthday Sub! It was actually my first time trying Firehouse and I thought it was so good! Firehouse serves their subs steamed so they are warm and delicious. After that my boyfriend and I hopped in the car and drove home. Once we got there I first went and voted. Next, I went to Harrah’s Casino. When we entered I gave the man my ID and he wished me Happy Birthday. After that, we went and signed up for the reward program at the Casino; since it was my birthday I got to win a prize, a free meal at the buffet good for the next month. After this I played on the machines; first was the slots and then the wheel. I gained and then lost all of my money. Once the money was gone, we headed to my house where my mom made my favorite food, Crawfish Pasta, and I got to open presents and eat a German Chocolate Cake. After this my best friend Lauren surprised me again by swinging by to say hi after she got off of work. After we talked briefly we all left and I headed back to Baton Rouge. When I got home that night I went to sleep almost right away because I was so tired. Overall, I had a really good day and I am hoping to continue celebrating with my friends this coming week and weekend. Also, Nothing Bundt Cakes gives you a free bundt cake for your birthday when you sign up for their emails so I am planning on going to pick that up soon too!

So what did I get for my birthday?

Besides money and gift cards I got quite a good bit of clothes.

Two of my favorite items are a dark red shirt that says “Live Well & Travel Often” and a grey sweatshirt that says “Brunch Squad” as you know, I love brunch so this sweatshirt is so fitting for me. They are both soft and super comfortable and I cant wait to pair them with some cute jeggings, booties, and maybe a scarf! I’m also going to be going shopping some time soon to be getting a few more birthday presents for myself.

I’ll be updating ya’ll soon about Thanksgiving break and also I’m hoping to be doing a VoxBox Reveal as well! I think I’ll be doing a video on youtube as well as a blog to talk about Influenster and the VoxBox program as well as talk about the products I receive!

Until then,

Fall Faves, Life Update, and Recipe

Happy Fall ya’ll!

I woke up one morning last week much happier than usual and as I was riding to school I then realized it was the first day of Fall! I honestly think my body just knew that it was fall and sent some serotonin my way because this is such a wonderful day to be blogging; even if its still summer weather here in Louisiana.

The season of pumpkin spice and salted caramel mocha at Starbucks and sweaters and jeans galore as well as Saturday nights in Death Valley; this is definitely the most glorious season of all. There are so many things that I want to do this Fall from going to a corn maze and a haunted house to baking cookies and making cinnamon-sugar pecans (literally most delicious snack ever). From being so busy this summer I know I haven’t posted much but since school is in full swing and I have gotten my first set of test out the way it is back to blogging for me!

So let’s talk about what’s been going on with my life. Over the summer I pretty much worked and spent some quality time with the BF. We spent a lot of time at the lake front in Mandeville laying on a blanket watching the sunset and the waves as well as tossing the football with his brother.

I came up to Baton Rouge 2 weeks before classes started for sorority recruitment. Then the historic flood of Baton Rouge happened so I went home to Metairie for a few days as wells visited the BF and went to his Mother Son Brunch for the football team he coaches. School started and our postponed recruitment started not long after. We finally had Bid Day and things have started to go back to normal. I am so happy to finally be back into the flow of life and school.

Since fall is upon us I wanted to share a few of my favorite fall items. I absolutely love fall and winter attire because its so cute and cozy but sadly, here in Louisiana it is t shirt weather almost entirely year round. I remember last year in December and January one day I would be wearing leggings and a t-shirt or tank to class and then next day I would walk outside and be freezing and have to go back for a sweatshirt. With that being said I definitely had to get used to checking the weather on my phone every morning to decide which extreme to dress for.

One of my favorites that I have loved since high school is pumpkin pancakes. My mom has never been one to wake up early and cook breakfast for us but for some reason my senior year of high school she would wake up almost every morning during the fall and make me a batch of pumpkin pancakes and I would literally devour them. I would eat the for breakfast, bring one of two to school for snack, and eat them as my after school snack too, hence why she had to wake up every morning! There just something about these that screams fall and just all around happiness to me. Plus they are healthy and easy to make which is super awesome in my opinion! At the end of this post I will add the recipe as well as a link to the website where the recipe is originally from!

Another of my fall favorites is scarfs. Always there to spice up a simple outfit and keep your neck warm scarves are definitely one of my favorite things. My personal favorite scarf is a leopard print infinity scarf that I have. It looks perfect paired with  jeggings, riding boots, and a monotone top. Another perk of scarves is that they are multifunctional; you can put your hands in them to keep them warm, you can put it under your head if you need a little nap, and some scarves you can even use as a blanket if you’re feeling a little cold or need a picnic blanket. All around, I think scarves are definitely a fall essential and when paired right, can be a super cute accessory.

My final fall favorite would probably have to be cardigans. Sometimes people say cardigans look like something a 90 year old grandma or a librarian would wear, I on the other hand, love cardigans. They’re not too heavy for the Louisiana-Fall heat, they can be worn open to reveal whatever cute top you’re wearing underneath, they dress up a outfit but don’t necessarily have to dress up because they can also be worn down. All around, cardigans are comfy and give you a fall feel without sweating your butt of while walking to class everyday. Also, they come in an enormous assortment of colors, prints, and materials and a large range of prices depending on how nice of a cardigan you want. Personally, because I wear mine to class, I prefer to get a cheaper one so I don’t have to worry about keeping it nice going to and from school and other events. Cardigans are seriously the best and if you don’t own at least 1 then I don’t know what you’ve been doing with your life.

Pumpkin Pancakes (recipe from Practical Paleo):
4 eggs

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons butter of coconut oil (plus extra for pan frying)

Whisk the eggs, canned pumpkin, pure vanilla extract, and pure maple syrup together. Sift the pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and baking soda into the wet ingredients.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. The mmix the butter into the batter. Grease the skillet and spoon the batter into the skillet to make pancakes of your desired size. When a few bubbles appear, flip the pancakes once to finish cooking.

Take off heat and enjoy your taste of fall!

These pancakes would probably be super good with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream if you want something a little different as a desert!

Happy Fall!

Vacation 2016 to Riviera Maya (Cancun), Mexico

Hey ya’ll!

So as I mentioned in my previous post I went on a super exciting trip last month! My family and I hopped on a plane and flew to an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico! We all had a blast and I got to check off a couple of items on my Summer Bucket List! Not only did I fly out of the country but I also tried a new drink and did something exhilarating. I have, so far, also checked off a couple other things such as: try a new recipe, hammock, keep my room (semi) clean, and do something spontaneous!

But anyway, back to our trip!

I hopped onto an AeroMexico plane May 29, 2016, starting my hour and a half flight to Cancun, Mexico. Upon arrival we got off the plane, went through customs, and were greeted by a driver who drove us in a private van to our resort. We stayed at Royalton Rivera Cancun which is in a small area right outside of Cancun. Now, lets talk about this resort! It was absolutely fabulous ya’ll; the service was awesome, the views were awesome, the food was awesome, over A+ for this place! After getting there and finding out we didn’t get the room we were hoping to get we upgraded to a room with a semi-private swim-up pool. The room had a small couch, a desk, two beds, a nice TV, a tub, and shower with two waterfall heads; not too shabby!

The resort had 7 restaurants as well as multiple bars, indoors and out, and two club areas one inside and the other on the beach. Our favorite restaurant, over all, was called Grazie, an Italian restaurant with great appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The other memorable restaurants consisted of a buffet, a steak house, and a Japanese restaurant which had awesome hibachi and sushi. The food was actually better than expected which was a happy surprise for my family. The buffet served breakfast, lunch, and dinner and always had a large variety of foods to choose from as well as a kids area that had classic american foods such as pizza, chicken nuggets, and french fries incase children wouldn’t eat the other food served. We also had room service a number of times which was good, but not impressive as the restaurant food.

My favorite snack spot was a little coffee and gelato shop on the third floor of the resort. I got a frozen caramel coffee almost every morning and throughout the day I would usually return at least once to get another coffee or a cup of gelato. The shop served 10+ flavors of gelato as well as specialty coffees and pastries which were changed throughout the day. The atmosphere was always very quaint and played acoustic or coffee shop music. Generally there was a short line, especially in the morning when people would want coffee and middle of the day when children (and adults) would want gelato.

Because the resort was all inclusive we did not have to pay for any food or drinks (including alcohol!) while we were at the resort but we did make sure to tip! We heard the the servers only make $20 a week which is clearly not enough money to raise a family or even get a decent house, so we did our best to tip all of the servers we encountered. With that being said, the service we got was absolutely incredible. Everyone working at the resort was so kind and always smiling and making sure we were well taken care of and it definitely did not go unnoticed!

The resort also had multiple pools. The main pool also had a stage and bar attached to it, as well as beach beds, and reclining beach chairs in and out of the water. The pool bar was generally packed during the day and the stage was used for workouts in the morning and entertainment in the evening. There was also an infinity style pool which over looked the beach that had more beach beds and reclining chairs. This pool was not as populated as the main pool and over all was more quiet. At each pool there was always staff walking around, taking drink orders, and picking up empty glasses. There was also a kid pool area, as well as a Diamond Club Pool. I did not use either of these pools but I did see them and they looked very nice.

Lastly, we, of course, had access to the beach. There were tons of beach chairs as well as hammocks, beach beds, and cabanas on the beach for guests to use. We also had access to use kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards at a $5 cost. The beach had very soft, fine, nice sand and the water was not very cold. There was some seaweed in the water when I went in because there was a storm coming in later that day. Every other day we were there the water looked absolutely beautiful and clear.

My favorite spot at the resort was the hammocks in-between the resort and the beach. These hammocks were white with crochet detailing and were in a grassy area along a walk way but directly below them was sand. They were, in my opinion, the prettiest area to be in, especially the one hammock that was on the dune-like hill in between the water and the walkway; it had an excellent view of the beach without actually being on the beach. During the day this spot was perfect for tanning because I would get the breeze coming off of the ocean so I was never too hot and the view was perfect for making it feel like the beach while not having to get sandy. Also this hammock was on the pathway for staff to walk to the beach from the bar so it was easy to order drinks whenever needed. At night it was a nice, secluded spot for me to FaceTime and also have a nice view of the stars and the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach as well as hearing the faint music from the entertainment happening in the distance.

Every night the resort had some sort of entertainment starting at 6 or 7PM and lasting until 11 or later. There was usually some sort of musical performance followed by the kids club performance on the main stage which was then followed by another performance of some sort of dancing, acrobatics, or music. Then, there was entertainment after dinner for the adults by one of the side bars which I believe was karaoke.

While in Cancun we visited two EcoParks, Xel Ha and XPlor. An EcoPark is similar to a water park but keeps the beauty of what was naturally there and builds around it. The underground caves and forest areas were there before the park was created. XPlor consisted of more adventurous activities such as riding ATV’s, Zip-lining, and floating through caves. Xel-Ha was more relaxed with activities such as snorkeling, swimming at the beach or through caves, walking on paths and seeing ancient ruins as well as animals, a butterfly garden, and a bird exhibit.

I was so glad I had my GoPro to capture all of the memories and the beauty I was able to witness on this trip. It will definitely be one of the most memorable vacations I have taken with my parents and brother.

Check out the video that I created from the footage I got while on vacation! I took about 4 hours of footage but was able to make a 13 min video.

Attire on this trip was super casual so I generally wore bikinis as well as my favorite high waisted jean shorts. The only pair of shoes I brought were my customized chacos because they are literally perfect for this type of trip! I also brought a grey swing dress that I wore at dinner in the nicer restaurants. At night I generally wore a tank top and sweats to lay in the hammock and relax.

I hope you are all having a bomb summer vacation and discovering new places and spaces as well as yourselves!

I’m going to be deciding between doing a brunch review or a brunch recipe soon so be sure to subscribe so you can get an email to know when I update my blog!

Did Someone Say GoPro?

This past week I got a GoPro! Why?

Well, I’m going on a super exciting trip this summer (more to come soon) and wanted a reliable camera that I can get wet. Obviously GoPro is the most popular sports/active/waterproof camera on the market and seems to have a huge empire of supporters which made it easy for me to decide that I wanted that brand. After spending hours days researching the different models I finally chose the GoPro Hero4 Silver Edition! I got it from BestBuy and there was a deal where it came an SD card and The Handler Floating Hand Grip, both of which I have already used and I’m glad I got. So far, I’ve the camera twice, once at an LSU Baseball Game with my friend Taylor (who you will start to see more about soon!) and the second time on a “let’s pretend to be tourists” trip to New Orleans.

The camera was super easy to use and it was interesting seeing how short the clips I got really were (usually ranging around 7 seconds each). When you get a GoPro you also need to get the GoPro app as well as the GoPro Studio App. The Studio app is the app that you edit the clips in and then merge them into a video. So far I have made one video because I keep having an error message pop-up when trying to create the second video so hopefully I’ll be able to figure that out soon! With the one video I did make the app was super easy to use and it even came with a couple of templates where you can just insert the videos of your choice and the lengths and music is predetermined for you!

Accessory wise, I am planning to buy a few more accessories from amazon before the big trip so I will be able to wear the camera as I’m doing things. There are TONS of GoPro accessory bundles of Amazon and for super inexpensive so I definitely suggest doing some research with a bunch of those before choosing which bundle is going to be best for you!

I posted the video I made of my New Orleans outing on my new YouTube Channel so that ya’ll can check it out! I used the template “Pool Party with the Ninos.” Also, I suggest taking a sec to click the settings button and make the quality 720 HD so you have the clearest quality to look at the footage and see how nice the camera shoots!

One quick note: Totally obsessed with the shoes I was wearing this day! They are Seersucker New Balance Tennis Shoes (how fricken cute?!)

Also, check out my youtube channel where I’ll be posting all my GoPro videos and definitely feel free to give them a thumbs up and subscribe!

Recently, I went to Brunch at Chimes in Covington so I will definitely write a review post about that and a few other brunch places I’ve been to recently soon!

Also, It’s summer and vacation season! Next time you hear from me I will (hopefully) be tanned and rejuvenated from the beach!

What’re y’all up to this summer and what are some items I can put on my Summer Bucket List?! See you soon and definitely check out the New Orleans video!

Summer 2016 Bucket List!

Hey ya’ll! Happy Freaking Summer! The sky is blue and the temperature is rising! Today I’m posting a quick bucket list before I post my main blog for the week! I’m super excited to share all of the things I’ll be up to this summer and some of them are included on the Bucket List (who doesn’t like putting items on a list just to check them off?!). I am hoping to have a super busy summer all though so far its started off pretty slow. I’m hoping after the next couple weeks it will begin to pick up and start flying by, because as much as I love summer, I also love football season and being in Death Valley cheering on the Tigers! (Also, lets keep Mike VI in our thoughts because he’s going to kill cancer just like our boys are going to kill football season this year!)

Any way, heres the Bucket List I have written so far! Of course there are a ton of crazy things I would love to add to this but that many of them would be outlandishly far fetched for what I could actually do on a minimal budget and with somewhat of a leash on my time since I’m hoping to take a class or two as well as working.

  1. Travel out of the country
  2. Go to the beach with friends
  3. Try at least 1 new food
  4. Try at least 1 new drink
  5. Do something exhilarating
  6. Go hiking
  7. Hammock
  8. Keep my room clean (lame but seriously needs to be done)
  9. Actually use my planner over the summer
  10. Get at least 1 henna tattoo
  11. Try a new recipe
  12. Do some sort of workout at least twice a week
  13. Go to a city I have never heard of
  14. Get crafty!
  15. Do something spontaneous
  16. Go fishing on a boat
  17. Go to a festival/concert (or two)

Like I said, so far this is what I have come up with but definitely let me know if you think there’s anything I need to add to this!

Thanks guys and happy summer!

Why Traveling in Your 20’s is Important

I truly believe traveling is one of the most important things a person can do. We can not truly know ourselves until we know how we would react in every situation. Traveling puts us into unexpected situations that can not only change the way we react and think but also make us grow as a human being. It teaches us how to plan and keep to a schedule as well as to be spontaneous and change the schedule. It also makes us accept other people and cultures as well as forcing communication with people who may not use the same form of communication or words as us. Most importantly it teaches us to pay attention to the little things that are going on around us and to appreciate everyday life.

Your 20’s are a time to grow without having to be held back by anything or anyone. It is a time of inspiration and exploration. It is when you have learned all you could in school and you are about to join the work force; but before, have you really experienced all the beauty of the world in the few short years you’ve lived? Probably not, which is why travel at this age is so important.

In your 20’s you are becoming the person that you are going to be for the rest of your life. You are young enough to make mistakes while still being old enough to be eligible for experiences younger people can’t have. Eventually you are going to settle down, get a job, get married, and have children. In that time you are going to have so much responsibility that it is going to be hard to travel like you would have been able to in your 20’s.

So seize the day and go see the world, because everyday it is changing and everyday you are getting closer to never seeing it again.
Go to another city or another part of town. Schedule a train ride or buy a plane ticket. Book a cruise of a sky diving trip. Don’t let today pass by without making an effort to see or do something totally new.

“Stuff your eyes with wonder, live as if you’d drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.” – Ray Bradbury

Have fun out there ya’ll!

A Letter to the Man I’m Going to Marry

I don’t know who you are, what you look like, or where you’re from but I do know that I am going to love you with every piece of me.

Dear Future Husband,

I hope you’re having a good day today. I hope you’re walking around, going about your everyday life, and I hope you’re happy. I hope you’re talking to your friends and doing stupid things 20 something-year-old-men do. I hope you notice the little things like the clouds in the sky or the birds perched on a roof. Mostly importantly, I hope the idea of me crosses your mind.

I hope you were raised to be respectful and kind to everyone you meet and you know that being driven is one of the most important qualities in a human. I hope you love your parents and siblings and you have listened to endless stories from your grandparents. I hope you take notes from their marriage and learn what to do and what mistakes to avoid. I hope you learn to apologize and to love others more than you love yourself. I hope you get to know yourself and your desires

I can’t wait to meet you. I hope one day we walk past each other or you happen to be in the background of one of my pictures. I hope we meet a few weeks later and you see me from across the room, make eye contact with me, and know you have to talk to me but need to first get the courage to do so. I hope you walk up to me and tell me a lame pick up line or remark and I roll my eyes or laugh. We start talking and get to know a little bit about each other. You jokingly make fun of me and ask me for my phone number before I leave and then you text me later that night. I hope I get butterflies when I get your text and you get them when I reply. We talk and you ask me to hangout one day. We make plans for later that week to do something exciting and adventurous and start making memories together. When the day is done you tell me how great of a time you had with me, then we go about our lives and you text me the next day. We chat and start hanging out more often. Eventually you tell me you have a crush on me and I reciprocate the same. We go on like that for a while and start to really open up to each other. You eventually ask me to be your girlfriend. We start to see each other a couple times a week and chat every night. You bring me home to meet your family and eventually I do the same. We start to spend holidays together and our relationship begins to feel like home. We share I love you’s and fights and we learn to work together and compromise. We start to make plans for the future and you realize you couldn’t spend the rest of your life with anyone else. You propose and I say of course and we share our excitement with everyone who loves us. We get encouraging words and a life time of support from our families and friends. We set a date and get the rings and vow to love each other for the rest of our lives and we know that this is it for each of us. We travel and get a dog and eventually start a family. We spend the nights cuddled on the couch chatting after the kids are asleep and the weekends spending family time together. We continue to go on adventures and reminisce on the beginning of our relationship when we were invincible. We love each other through all of the rough patches and we learn to grow together and not apart. We love our children and teach them what real love is because we set the example for them.

I can’t wait to meet you and see what is in store for us; whether its a perfect fairy tale or an imperfect romance it will be ours and we will love each other through all of the trials, no matter how difficult.

Five Friday Favorites: Spring Break Edition

I’ve decided to start posting five of my favorite things each Friday! This post is going to range from clothes to music to food to random knick-knack items and everything in-between! So lets geaux!

1: Cupshe World Tour Leaves Bikini: Ya’ll this bikini is seriously so cute! The back is open and strappy, the leaf print is gorgeous and *drumroll* its REVERSIBLE! Yup, on the other side of the leaves is skinny black and white horizontal stripe pattern which you can mix and match with the leaf pattern! I have received so make compliments on this bikini already and I can’t wait to wear it on Spring Break!

2: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes: So I’m sure you have seen the trailer for this movie at some point recently! After my roommate, Riley, and I saw the trailer we found a PDF of the book online and started reading…it took Riley less than 24 hours to read the entire book and it took me about 4 days. The book is a super easy read that makes you laugh, cry, and get angry. The characters are easy to love and the story is sweet but also sad. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read, especially while you’re laying out on the beach over spring break. Plus, the movie is coming out June 3 so you have plenty of time to finish the book before it hits the theaters!

3. Ray-Ban Erika Metal 54 Brown & Gold Matte Polarized Sunglasses: I recently got hired at Sunglass Hut in the Mall of Louisiana and when I went in for my first day of training I saw these beauties on the shelf. Now, I love gold,( its literally my favorite color), and I also love Ray-Bans so this babies are perfect! They are super light weight and a Sunglass Hut Exclusive Design! They are going to be perfect for a day of wondering around New Orleans or a day laying out on the beach; and the fact that they are polarized is awesome because they protect your eyes from those awful UV Rays! I can’t wait to get my first paycheck because I will definitely be purchasing this gorgeous pair to add to my Ray-Ban collection!

4: White High Top Chucks:  I have been wanting these for a while now and finally got them this past Christmas! I have been wearing them so often now that the Louisiana weather has decided to become warm and I love every second they are on. They can be dressed up or dressed down and they bring an extra bit of sporty-style to the day-to-day sorority girl uniform. Plus they are super cute with a navy monogram on them which I am planning to get on mine soon!

5: High-Waisted Jean Shorts: Perfect for a day downtown, a day at the beach, or a fun night out, these denim high-waisted shorts have been my go-to for the past 2 weeks! They’re cute and comfortable and fit really well! I would definitely say to add these to your closet because they’re an essential.

Everyone have a fun weekend and a great Spring Break 2016!

Brunch at Canefeild Tavern and Life Update

Hey guys, So today I am doing a brunch review and a short life update!

This past weekend my sorority had our Second Annual Red Dress Gala! It was super successful and I am so proud of everyone who was involved in making it happen (speical shout out to my big and my roommate for being chairs!) My mother and grandmother came in town for the night, so they told me I had to choose a brunch place for the Sunday morning after. After reading a lot of Yelp reviews I chose Canefeild Tavern.

Canefeild Tavern is located off of Nicholson Drive by Brightside in Baton Rouge in the same strip as Wahada and Hungry Howies.

The attire was very casual; there were girls in Norts and Tshirts and guys in everyday attire (although I showed up in a casual dress so slightly #awkward for me).

The crowd was mixed but I would say there were more college students than adults.

One of the main draws to Canefeild Tavern is their Bloody Mary Bar which consisted of two types of Bloody Mary’s as well as lots of toppings and options.

I ordered the Farmhouse Hash with a Mimosa. The Mimosa was a little strong for my taste but still good. The Farmhouse Hash came with a homemade biscuit both of which were very filling (so much potato). The hash consisted of potatoes, onion, bell peppers,  and chicken, and it was topped with two poached eggs and hollandaise. The eggs were a little overcooked for my taste but overall it was a great dish.

So for my New Years Resolutions I can say I am definitely failing thus far. I just love Starbucks so much, ya know? Also, I’m not able to store my guitar in Baton Rouge soo that one hasn’t been going so well either, but I’m definitely going to continue to trying when I have the chance.

Happy Almost Mardi Gras ya’ll!
